Camp Creek Farm
Saline County, MO
The Camp Creek Farm is a 204-acre corn and soybean farm located in the Missouri River Valley of Saline County, Missouri. The farm is situated 4 miles west of the Missouri River and just 80 miles east of the Kansas City Metro Area.
The farm is being used to produce seed corn and soybeans. This differs from conventional crops as the final product is sold for the next year's planting with only 6% of corn grown in the United States used for seed. Saline County is a concentrated area of high seed production as the weather patterns and unique soils along the Missouri River are well suited for its production, with Marshall, MO, under 10 miles west, containing multiple seed research and genetics facilities for some of the largest agriculture companies in the country.
The soils of the farm are entirely composed of silt loam variations. These soils contain ample nutrients for crop production such as corn and soybeans while maintaining drainage capabilities that excrete excess moisture from the soil. The Camp Creek Farm has an average National Commodity Crop Productivity Index (NCCPI) Rating of 72.6, which sits above the county average of 64. The farm has also undergone extensive terracing recently, allowing for superior drainage and improved crop yields.
