The East Highline 160 is a carrot and alfalfa farm located approximately 5 miles east of Holtville, near the community of Date City, in Imperial County, California. The farm is situated in the southeastern portion of the valley along the East Highline Canal in an area known as the Carrot Capital of the World, a title the city of Holtville celebrates each year at its Carrot Festival. The ranch was developed some 80 years ago by Loma Land Leveling Co. and has been owned and operated under the Loma Farms banner ever since.

The ranch contains 156 acres of tillable land and is comprised almost entirely of Class II Indio and Vint soils, with a small amount of Class III Meloland and Holtville soils. In combination with the drainage tile and irrigation capabilities, these high-quality soils make the ranch well suited to produce most field crops, as well as carrots and onions. Additionally, the farm is located only 1 mile from Interstate 8, affording it easy access to the main thoroughfare in the Imperial Valley.

The farmer is utilizing the property to grow alfalfa and has recently signed a one year lease agreement at $400 per acre. Note also that the potential exists to generate additional annual revenue and contribute to water conservation efforts in the Imperial Valley via the Imperial Irrigation District’s On-Farm Efficiency Conservation Program (OFECP), but that potential revenue is not reflected in the yield or IRR projections.
