The famous Florida Groves have been producing citrus products for over 200 years, including oranges, grapefruits, as well as other specialty fruits. Florida is a global powerhouse in citrus production, producing more than 70% of our country’s citrus products, ranking as the number 1 producer of grapefruit in the world and the number 2 in orange juice production globally. Aside from citrus products, Florida agriculture also provides more than 60% of the sugarcane produced in the U.S. and nearly 20% of flowers grown and sold commercially. As of 2017, there were 47,590 farms in Florida, comprising 9.7 million acres of agricultural land.
The latest USDA Ag Census revealed that Florida farmers produced and sold $7.3 billion dollars of agricultural products, of which, over 75% were crops including nursery and greenhouse crops.
The top 5 counties in terms of agricultural sales in Arizona were Palm Beach County, Miami-Dade County, Hillsborough County, Manatee County, and Hendry County. These counties combined make up 37% of Florida's total agricultural revenue.
