South Carolina is a top producer of Poultry, Eggs, and Tobacco in the nation, but in addition produces a wide array of crops on its 4.7 million acres of farmland. The top commodities produced in the state are: Broilers (Chicken), Eggs, Turkeys, Greenhouse Crops, Cotton, Corn, Cattle, Peanuts, and Wheat. There has also been a growing presence of specialty products in the state such as honey, cane syrup, and pecans. As of 2017, there were a total of 24,791 farms in South Carolina with an average size of 191 acres. The majority of the state's land in farms is considered cropland, followed by Woodland, and Pastureland.
